You came out and said that issues and ideals matter, jobs matter, downstate and upstate, health care matters, education matters, the environment matters, social security matters, a womans right to choose matters. it all matters and i just want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you, new york!

Thank you for opening up your minds and your hearts, for seeing the possibility of what we could do together for our children and for our future here in this state and in our nation. i am profoundly grateful to all of you for giving me the chance to serve you.

I will - i will do everything i can to be worthy of your faith and trust and to honor the powerful example of senator daniel patrick moynihan. i would like all of you and the countless new yorkers and americans watching to join me in honoring him for his incredible half century of service to new york and our nation. senator moynihan, on behalf of new york and america, thank you.

I promise you tonight that i will reach across party lines to bring progress for all of new yorks families. today we voted as democrats and republicans. tomorrow we begin again as new yorkers.

And how fortunate we are indeed to live in the most diverse, dynamic and beautiful state in the entire union. you know, from the south bronx to the southern tier, from brooklyn to buffalo, from montauk to massena, from the worlds tallest skyscrapers to breathtaking mountain ranges, ive met people whose faces and stories i will never forget. thousands of new yorkers from all 62 counties welcomed to me into your schools, your local diners, your factory floors, your living rooms and front porches. you taught me, you tested me and you shared with me your challenges and concerns - about overcrowded or crumbling schools, about the struggle to care for growing children and aging parents, about the continuing challenge of providing equal opportunity for all and about children moving away from their home towns because good jobs are so hard to find in upstate new york. now ive worked on issues like these for a long time, some of them for 30 years, and i am determined to make a difference for all of you.

You see, i believe our nation owes every responsible citizen and every responsible family the tools that they need to make the most of their own lives. thats the basic bargain. ill do my best to honor in the united states senate.

And to those of you who did not support me, i want you to know that i will work in the senate for you and for all new yorkers. and to those of you who worked so hard and never lost faith even in the toughest times, i offer you my undying gratitude.

First, I’ll say something about World Epo History. As we know, the very first World Epo, the Great Ehibition of 1851, took place in the Crystal Palace in London. UK. Ever since then, the goals of World Epos have been both high-minded as well as commercial. Visitors are able to eplore the world outside of their everyday eperience—outside cultures, new scientific advancements, and new inventions. On December3, 20, the Bureau of International Epositions (or call it BIE) announced that Shanghai will host Epo20. the BIE had received bids from five cities to host Epo20. Im learning not that I am luckier than them, though. I am learning that its a genius idea to use a pair of barbecue tongs to pick up things that you dropped. (Laughter) Im learning that nifty trick where you can charge your mobile phone battery from your chair battery. Genius.

We are learning from each others strength and endurance, not against our bodies and our diagnoses, but against a world that exceptionalizes and objectifies us. I really think that this lie that weve been sold about disability is the greatest injustice. It makes life hard for us. And that quote, "The only disability in life is a bad attitude," the reason that thats bullshit is because its just not true, because of the social model of disability. No amount of smiling at a flight of stairs has ever made it turn into a ramp. Never.

Smiling at a television screen isnt going to make closed captions appear for people who are deaf. No amount of standing in the middle of a bookshop and radiating a positive attitude is going to turn all those books into braille. Its just not going to happen.

一、首先,跟大家汇报一下班级学生现状

1.班级学生现状

我们班总共名学生，上周我校进行了半期考试。我把半期英语考试的情况简单向各位家长作个汇报。平均分分，优生人，优生率 %。排名前十名的有 ;与九月份第一次月考相比，进步较大的学生有。通过高中半期的学习，大多数学生都具有良好的英语学习习惯。学习积极性较高，能够自觉完成老师布臵的作业，深知英语学科在整个高中课程的重要性。

2.存在问题:

1)早读课容易瞌睡，每天晚上加夜班的.同学比较多，导致早上精神状态不好。

2)部分学生的学习方式仍然停留在初中甚至小学阶段，从不自觉主动地去学习(从他们对作业的认识和处理方式上就可以看出来)

3)部分学生抄袭作业，少数学生作业拖拉甚至不交作业

二、其次，想跟大家交流四个问题

1.首先和大家交流一个问题：孩子上了高中以后，总有一部分家长很纳闷：我家的孩子在小学能考到八九十分，初中也能考到七八十分，为什么到了高中，成绩不令人满意，甚至有些失望呢?

这个问题的答案首先与各个学习阶段的特点有关：小学阶段以赏识教育为主，要在很小的时候培养学生的自信心，试卷内容大多与课本有关，因此考试分数自然会很高。初中则是以普及教育为主，考试会照顾到大部分学生，因此分数也较高。但是，高中教育，特别是在以高考为最终目标的大背景下，就是以选拔为目的了，所以，考试难度与深度会有很大的提升，得分率自然就会下降，孩子们的考试分数自然会低一些。所以拿初中甚至小学的分数来衡量孩子们高中的学习，是不科学的。

其次，与学生自身的学习方式和学习习惯有关：高中阶段学习科目多而且难，要求学生必须学会自主学习(自觉主动地去学习)，即变“要我学”为“我要学”，再也不能像初中甚至小学那样靠老师和家长盯着学，那样成绩自然会下降。

2.第二个问题，为什么同一个班级的孩子三年后成绩差别那么大?成绩进步大的一定是那些学习习惯和个性好的孩子。孩子为什么会这样，其实因素很多，这不仅仅与学习基础有关，最主要的是与孩子的心态、学习方式及学习习惯密切相关。学生的学习方式及习惯是极其重要的，直接影响和决定学生的成绩。不要到高三时才感慨，现在我们不是不想学，而是在高一、高二时没有养成良好的学习习惯，没能改变自己的学习方式以适应高中的学习，现在只能是心有余而力不足。因此，现在必须努力学习。

在此，我希望家长们要时时关注孩子的学习习惯和个性，也就是情商问题。大量的实例证明了一个人的成功主要取决于情商，其次才是智商，两者的比例大概是7:3。既然知道英语学科举足轻重，就必须爱英语，以十足的干劲学好英语。

3.第二个问题，请家长们正确看待孩子在班级的考试名次，当孩子名次退步时，原因是多方面的，首先帮助他树立信心，然后一起帮助分析原因，而不要盲目地批评甚至打骂孩子。“望子成龙，望女成凤”是我们共同的心愿，但在高一更应注重孩子学习习惯的培养、学习方式的转变，让孩子快乐的成长进步，严格遵循教育教学规律。

4.有些孩子还没有适应高中的学习，还不知道高中阶段怎么学，希望家长们高度关注。高中学习科目多而难，时间紧，主要靠学生自主和自觉地学习，老师主要是引导和辅导、检查和督促，而不像初中那样盯着你学习。说明学生在学习目的、学习兴趣上还需培养。

订正的习惯，督促学生建立错题集，当堂发现的问题，当堂订正，不拖拉，不滞留，将问题解决在发现之处，从而保证知识点的连接，为建立学科知识体系做保障。这些习惯，会让学生真正的乐学、好学，在成功中追求快乐，在快乐中追求成功!

三、我想对在座的各位家长提出几点温馨提示。

(1)帮助孩子确定适当目标

和孩子一起确定一个他能够达到的目标——家长适度的期望值。

孩子是家长的希望，教育好孩子是老师的希望。父母对孩子期望值的高低直接影响孩子将来所取得成就的大小。期望值一定要有，而且要恰到好处。

期望值过高：孩子拼命按家长的意愿生活、学习，也许父母感到满足，但孩子生活得较为压抑，甚至影响心理健康。尽力后仍达不到家长的要求，双方均失望，可能导致孩子自暴自弃;

期望值过低或没有：家长对尚不自觉的孩子期望值过低或没有，孩子会缺少外在精神支持，认为不重视、无所谓。

适度的期望值：在原有基础上适当拔高，不操之过急，不高不攀，否则可能大家都失望。

(2)帮助孩子增强自信心

(3)关注孩子成绩的变化(即名次的升降)而不是绝对名次

(4)沟通---多倾听孩子的诉说

(5)多和老师尤其是班主任联系，及时了解情况，积极配合班主任和老师做好孩子的思想工作

只有有效的家校联动(沟通与合作)，才能教育好学生。

我确信：英语要学好和智商无关，学不好英语的人都是懒惰的人。所以，在课后一定要主动抽时间为自己补习英语。学好英语，不外乎就是在听，说，读，写这些方面下功夫。

2.作业一定要按时独立完成，不要成为学习上的“寄生虫”。作业是老师检查了解学生知识掌握情况的一个有效途径，要求同学们能如实客观地对待作业。知之为知之，不知为不知，宁愿独立完成的空几题的作业，也比完全不经过自己大脑思考抄袭来的作业质量高得多。许多同学自觉性差，平时空空两手回家，早上早早赶来抄，每天我都布置了一定的英语作业，因此请各位家长能关注一下你的子女有没有将作业带回家来做，并督促子女认真复习。

3.学习习惯是第一生产力。许多同学英语学习好，并不是他(她)比别人聪明，而是学习习惯比较好。良好的学习习惯可以大大提高你的学习效果，我们班的刘里杰，姜艳芳，李辉龙，李柯欧等同学，她们学习态度端正，上课认真，书写工整，正因为如此，无论什么考试都能取得很好的成绩，这与她平时良好的学习习惯是分不开的!而有些同学你看似认真，却是身在心不在，学习重在表象，完全不扎实，综合素质却没有真正提高。课外也不下功夫，一堂课几个单词，一两个重点句型下节课过来提问一问三不知，又何谈课外扩展与素质提升?这样的现象很普遍，说到底，还是好的习惯没有养成，不够勤奋。另外还有几个同学，他们的潜力很大，但因为还不够认真刻苦，所以没有发挥出自己最好的水平，希望家长能够配合老师，把孩子的成绩抓上去。我坚信：如果您的孩子在您的支持和我的指导下能够及时完成老师布置的任务，那么一定能学好。要教导您的孩子一开始就要有吃苦耐劳的精神。坚持严谨的`学习作风，成绩马上就会见效。

5.树立正确的英语学习观与知识观!许多学生和家长认为英语学习了没有多大用处，我又不会出国，学两句皮毛可以炫耀就好了，何必学精通?且不说英语作为一种工具，它对于我们升学、工作、求职有重大意义，同时我认为学习英语的过程也是一个吸收别人长处，观念更新的过程!知识是无价的，知识可以改变命运。
