My hometown is in Jieyang, Guangdong. It used to be a beautiful place with beautiful scenery.
But now, the small river has been polluted, why? Because people pour garbage into the small river, making it dirty and smelly.
The roads in my hometown are wide and beautiful, but people who pass by in cars casually throw used plastic bags aside; People buy food in the Snack bar beside the street. Those plastic boxes and bags are thrown on the ground. The beautiful road has become a dirty dump. Flies fly everywhere, and sewage flows everywhere. Such an environment can also spread diseases, and peoples lives are not healthy.
People are beginning to understand the importance of environmental protection. We use the weekend time to get up early and clean the streets, pick up the garbage from the river, and our beautiful hometown is back.
Public morality and environmental protection are closely related. I hope everyone has a sense of public morality, starting from around us and working together to protect our living environment!

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My topic is "Give environment more care". I’d like to talk about some global environmental problems, share some of my stories and show you some data in my speech.
At the beginning, I’d like to ask you a question. Has your hometown’s environment been polluted, if it has, raise your hands please? (Thank you) Let me give you an impression of my hometown. That is a small village of Yunnan province. There are many mountains, forests and rivers. If you go there, I promise you will be amazed by its beautiful landscape. Because you just can touch the nature with your fingers and feelings. You can enjoy the blue sky, flying birds, waterfall, amazing sunset and many other sceneries. When I was a teenager, I often climbed these mountains and jumped into clear and clean river for a swim with my peers. However, after my graduation from high school, I came to Beijing for college. I found something different. Because when I raised my head, the sky’s color was not blue, but yellow. When I looked down, dirty and poisonous rivers are full of unrecyclable rubbish and giving out unpleasant smells. When I looked forward, so many people wore their mouth masks. Everyone here complains weather and environment. It seems so inharmonious between man and nature. Why?
As we know, in the past few centuries, human have made countless remarkable achievements in science and technology to explore the mysterious world better. Conquering nature with powerful tools, people have achieved material prosperity. Meanwhile, environment has been badly damaged. So a series of severe problems come along, such as species extinction, energy crisis, incurable diseases, the three main pollutions etc. All of these factors bring our beautiful planet disasters, humanity as well. Let me show you some statistics. According to the report from World Wide Fund for Nature, the species of entire world have declined by 52 % since 1970. That means about 75 kinds of precious species disappear forever from the Earth each day. In addition, scientists claimed that human now need one and a half Earth to meet the demand for natural resources. Another frightening data from the UN in 2012, there are almost 8.4 million people around the world who die of cancers caused by environmental issues every year. It is so horrible, isn’t it? Man has taken too much from nature, also paid such a heavy price for it. If we don’t try to change these situations, what will happen one or two centuries later?
But, fortunately, the majority throughout the world are aware of the significance of environmental protection. Much many individuals, environmentalists and organizations have taken actions spontaneously. Companies donate part of their profits to support some green projects. Moreover, Government has carried out many policies to conserve endangered species, support green industries and encourage people to live a green life. From a global perspective, though it is a long journey to make the Earth recovered and to live in harmony with it, I do believe that, with everyone’s efforts, we will finally get there.
Ladies and gentlemen. For ourselves, for our children, and for all human beings, by the end of my speech, I do hope you can keep the following words in mind ---- The nature’s prosperity is humanity’s prosperity. Caring environment is caring human’s future. Lives need be valued by us, nature need be respected by us, and the Earth need be loved by us, please give them more care. (Thank you very much. Here, Id like to share my own experience abroad with you. Several years ago, I was very lucky to he an opportunity to live in the Australia about half a month. During that time, Not only did I enjoy the beautiful natural scenery there, but also I appreciated the peoples active way of protecting their environment. Now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, the beautiful scenery of Australia will arise in my mind, white clouds flying across the blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and lovely squirrels playing happily among the trees.

On a Saturday morning. I went to have breakfast. I felt there was a terrible smell and went over to have a look carefully. I found that there was a big pile of banana skins giving out the smell.Just then a young fellow holding a dustpan rubbish to walk towards here . He raised his hands, The big pile of rubbish was here. At once I went to him and said “Uncle , you can’t do like this . These things will rot very soon. It’s bad for our health and make the people fall ill.” However ,the man said “Everyone does so ,who falls ill,who will see the doctor.”
Looking at this , I remembered another act : There is a stream through our village. Over it there are two bridges .At the age of seven years old , I enjoyed the beautiful scenery under the bridge very much. It was the best place to swim in summer. But now the rubbish was getting more and more .Dish leaves,fruit skins,dead ducks and chickens….after rotting ,not only the mosquitos flew around but also the bad smell made everyone feel quite terrible.Though the stream was cleaned up several times, it’s still happening now. A lot of plastic bags always float on it .In summmer we have to go far away from the village to swim.
What causes this? Who is the devil?It’s the human ourselves. I have got to known from a book .The rubbish in the countryside mostly oupies the fields and damages the earth’s surface .It pollutes soil,wave ,atmosphere and damages our health. The adults often say “The body is capital.” But why are they able to make woollen cloth like this ? Does it affect everybody’s safe and sound life ? Schoolmates, we are the host of society tomorrow . It’s our duty to improve and build the safe invironment. Safety is in our hands .We must take park in more environmental protection activities, Plant more trees and flowers to make us live in a beautiful home with the blue sky ,blue water and green land forever.

The content of my speech is to protect the environment. In recent years, although our technology has developed rapidly, our environment has indeed deteriorated and various types of pollution have become increasingly serious.
